South Australia's 2011-14 Health System Review

The Health Performance Council (HPC) was established in 2008 to continuously review the performance of the SA Health system and advise the Minister and Parliament accordingly. A formal report will be tabled in the SA Parliament every four years. The HPC submitted its inaugural report, titled Reflecting on Results – Review of the Public Health System for 2008-201) at the end of 2010, and the next report is due in December 2014.

The Health Performance Council’s 2011-2014 review aims to identify parts of the health system that work well, and parts that can be improved. The HPC will assess the health system’s performance in terms of it being effective, safe, responsive, accessible, efficient and sustainable.

HCA recently participated in a well-attended Key Stakeholder Forum to assist the Health Performance Council to shape their next review of the SA Health system. The HPC will conduct further Stakeholder Forums towards the end of 2014 to confirm its findings prior to finalisation and release of the report.
