Consumers at the centre of health
in South Australia

As part of an inquiry into My Health Record, the Senate Community Affairs Committee (the Committee) has called for public submissions into My Health Record. HCA hosted a focus group on Thursday 30 August aimed at gaining consumer insight into My Health Record. We combined their input with the feedback we received from members of the Consumer Advocates Network (CAN) at the August CAN meeting to inform our submission. We would like to thank all consumers who participated. The My Health Record Consumer Consultation report is available below.

HCA recently hosted two consumer forums in partnership with SA Health to address the following objectives relating to public reporting of health data:

1. key principles of public reporting of health data
2. what data consumers would like access to
3. how data should be made accessible to the public and how often.

Forty-three people attended and contributed their ideas. Participant feedback was overwhelmingly positive, indicating that the forums were well facilitated and that the forum objectives were met. Find a full copy of the reportrt below.

HCA hosted a forum on Power Dependency on Wednesday 15 November 2017. The forum had two key objectives, to review the proposed Power Dependency Strategy and associated messaging to inform the development of a Communications Plan, and support processes for potentially vulnerable people and their carers/families; and to identify what consumers should do to prepare for and manage an outage. The report summarising the key findings arising from the forum is available below.
