Entry level consumer advocacy training for people with experience of the health system that would like to help make health systems and services more consumer-centred through participating in committees, consultations, projects and other activities. Format will include presentation and discussion. Participants will receive a manual that includes a variety of resources and links to many more. Certificates of attendance are provided. Consumers who complete this training become members of the Consumer Advocates Network, which provides an opportunity for networking, ongoing learning and first access to consumer roles that become available.
Due to changes to HCA's funding model, it is necessary that HCA now charge for our training sessions. We have kept the cost minimal. Please call us on 82314169 if you would like to participate but do not have the capacity to pay for the training. We encourage consumers to ask the health service they are engaging with to reimburse them for the cost of training.
Cost for Introduction to Consumer Advocacy Training is $99 (inc GST).
The training is run five times per year;
